38. A veces es bueno romper las reglas. Observe que en esta pintura en lugar de utilizar colores claros en la parte superior, utilicé colores obscuros. 

38. Some times you can broken the rules. Note that in this painting instead use clear colors in the top of the picture, I used dark colors.

37. Usted puede obscurecer los bordes o esquinas del cuadro para resaltar el objeto principal. A esto se le conoce con el nombre de "Viñetas".

35. Cuando vaya a aclarar u obscurecer un color, utilice las transiciones del círculo cromático o arcoiris, es decir, si va  a aclarar un color gradualmente, no utilice simplemente el color blanco para hacerlo, puede utilizar primero un color cercano al blanco, como por ejemplo un amarillo pálido.

Si necesita aclarar un color morado, puede hacerlo mezclándolo primero con un rojo claro, y si desea aclararlo aún más, aclárelo con un naranja y finalmente con el blanco.

Lo mismo sucede si desea obscurecer un color. Trate de no obscurecerlo aplicando simplemente el negro, fíjese como se va obscureciendo según el círculo cromático.

35. When you need to lighten or darken a color, use the transitions of the chromatic circle or rainbow, in other words, if you need to lighten a color, don´t use only de white color, you can use first a color near to white, for example the yellow.

If you need to lighten a purple color, you can mix it first with red, then orange and finally with white.

The same happens if you need to darken a color. You must watch the chromatic circle. Don’t  apply only the black color.

34. Cuando pinte, tenga en cuenta que los colores transmiten sensaciones:

ROJO: Es un color que transmite fuerza, movimiento, es intenso, vibrante.

AZUL Y VERDE: Son colores que transmiten tranquilidad y paz.

AMARILLO: Transmite alegría.

PARDOS, CAFÉS O NEGROS: Transmiten tristeza, soledad. Hace que los espacios se vean pequeños.

BLANCO: Transmite amplitud

34. The colors transmit  sensations:

RED: It a strong color. It transmit sensations of power, movement, vibrations.

BLUE and GREEN: It transmit sensations of peaceful

YELLOW: It transmit sensations of happyness.

BROWN and BLACK: It transmit sensations of sadness, loneliness

WHITE: It transmit amplitude.

33. En un cuadro trate de que los colores claros estén en la parte superior y los colores más fuertes y oscuros en la parte inferior. Sin embargo, ésto no es una premisa, depende naturalmente de lo que se esté pintando.

33 In a painting, you must paint with the clear colors up, and paint with the dark colors down. That isn't a rule. That depend of your painting.

32. En una pintura deben predominar bien sea los colores cálidos o los colores fríos. Esto hace que su obra tenga armonía.

31. Los colores cambian un poco según el color del fondo de la capa anterior, es decir, si el fondo es blanco, el color que se aplique encima será más claro, pero si el fondo es oscuro, el color que se aplique resultará más oscuro.

31. Colors change: If the background layer is white, the color that you put over this layer will be clear, but if the background layer is dark, the color that you put over this layer will be dark.

30. Cuando mezcle 2 colores es recomendable comenzar con el blanco e ir añadiendo los colores, de lo contrario necesitará mucho blanco para obtener el color deseado.

30. When you mix 2 colors, you can start with the white, then add colors little by little because the color white it tinted very easy.

29. Pinte las primeras capas con colores oscuros, apagados y sin brillos, y las últimas capas con colores más claros, fuertes y con brillos blancos.

28. Un color se vé más claro cuanto más oscuro es el que lo rodea y viceversa.

28. You can see a color clearer if the color that surrounds it is darker, and you can see a color darker if the color that surrounds it is  clearer.

27. Pinte en varias sesiones (por capas), es decir, pinte y deje secar hasta que la pintura esté seca al tacto (normalmente a los 2 o 3 días), y luego vuelva a pintar.

Para pintar en una sola sesión (alla prima) se requiere de mucha experiencia para que la obra quede aceptable. Cuando pinte encima de la capa anterior, no la cubra totalmente, deje que se vean parte de los colores de la capa inferior, esto hará que su obra se vea más real y colorida.

27.You must paint in several layers. When you paint a layer, wait for the paint to dry (usually in 2 or 3 days). If you paint in one layer, you need a lot of experince.

When you paint over the first layer, don`t cover the whole painting. Let see some areas of the lower layer, that will make your painting more real and beautiful.

26. Cuando dibuje a lápiz, comience desde el primer plano hacia el fondo. (Cuando pinte al óleo comience del fondo hacia adelante)

26. When you draw with pencil, you must start since the foreground to background. (When you paint with oil, start in the background and finish in the foreground)

NEGRO = AMARILLO + AZUL + ROJO

Así puede obtener negros cálidos, neutros o fríos, mezclándolos en diferentes proporciones.

21. En paisajes, separe el agua de la orilla con líneas discontinuas de color blanco.

20. Si el cielo que está pintado es de color azul, recomiendo No diluir la pintura con aceite de Linaza, ya que dicho aceite es amarillo y con el tiempo el cielo se tornará verdoso (Azul+Amarillo=Verde).

20. If your sky is blue, don't disolve the paint with Linaza's oil, because this oil is yellow, and with the time your sky will become green. (Blue+Yellow=Green).

19. Para dar sensación de profundidad en una pintura, No detalle los objetos alejados o del fondo, trate de pintarlos "borrosos" y por el contrario, detalle los objetos del primer plano.

13. No dedique tiempo a detalles innecesarios, es preferible sacrificarlos y dedicarse al tema, el color y el trazo del pincel.

12 En retratos ensaye pintar o fotografiar el sujeto girado 3/4, NO DE FRENTE. Esto hará la composición más interesante.

11. En paisajes, aconsejo OCULTAR parcialmente el objeto principal . (Por ejemplo ocultar una casa con un árbol).

10. No recargue demasiado la pintura hacia un lado del cuadro. La pintura debe estar EQUILIBRADA.

Si en un lado tiene un objeto muy grande, trate de compensar al otro lado colocando otros objetos, o utilizando colores más fuertes.


10. Do not charge too much paint on one side of the picture. The painting must be BALANCED.
If one side has a very large object, try to compensate it by putting  on the other side other object, or using stronger colors.

9. En paisajes, se aconseja colocar la LINEA DEL HORIZONTE al tercio inferior del cuadro, si desea darle mayor énfasis al cielo, y viceversa.

8. Al hacer una composición, NO UBIQUE EL OBJETO PRINCIPAL EN EL CENTRO.

Esto hará su pintura más interesante.

8. To make a painting, DON`T PUT THE MAIN SUBJECT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE. This will make your painting more interesting.

7. Para pintar al óleo, solo existe una regla; "PINTE GRASO SOBRE MAGRO".

Esto significa que las primeras capas de pintura deben ser muy diluidas en trementina, y las capas posteriores más espesas para evitar que la pintura se agriete o cuartee con el tiempo.

7. To paint in oil, there is one rule; "PAINT SMEARY OVER LEAN".
This means that the first layers of paint must be very diluted in turpentine, and the following layers must be thicker to avoid the paint to crack or quarter over time.
